Lanterne Rouge Quilt Pattern (PDF)
The Lanterne Rouge is based on the traditional Squash Blossom block, and the result of the curves and color palette reminded me of lanterns. The title references the red lantern hung at the end of a train allowing signalmen to know if cars had been lost en route. The "Lantern Rouge" is also an award in a cycling race for the rider who finishes last instead of quitting. I enjoy the way those two images weave related advice to someone finding their way in the world: don't lose (even part of) yourself and never give up.
Pattern includes instructions for a baby quilt, a lap quilt, and a twin size quilt.
This design won 4th place in the Modern Traditionalism category at QuiltCon in 2018 (scroll to see quilt image).
