Join Daisy Aschehoug for an immersive retreat from March 20-27, 2027, at Clos Mirabel, in Jurançon, France.

Retreat workshop: Scrappy Circle Quilts from Start to Finnish

Daisy will present several strategies for creating circle quilts, and based on what resonates with your aesthetic goals, Daisy will support you through the entire quiltmaking process: piecing, basting, quilting, and binding your project.

All of the circle quilt strategies have eye-catching designs, and we’ll arrange the fabrics to create the most visual impact. Add a sentimental element to your project by bringing a few cherished scraps or clothing items from loved ones to upcycle into your project.

Beginning quilters will learn a range of piecing techniques including improvisational piecing, foundation paper piecing, and curved piecing - as well as a variety of finishing techniques like hand quilting and binding. Experienced quilters will pick up new tricks throughout all of these steps and continue to hone skills with Daisy’s instruction.

Daisy is so excited to lead you in this welcoming, creative space, whether you’re just starting or continuing on your quilting journey.

Book your room and board first with the Clos Mirabel website. After your reservation has been confirmed, then purchase the quilt workshop here.

  1. How do I start planing my travel?
If flying, book your travel to Pau-Pyrenees airport (PUF). The major airline at this airport is Air France. North Americans will likely travel via Paris Charles de Gaulle, but luggage will be transferred for you  to your flight landing in Pau. From Pau Airport to Clos Mirabel, the drive is approximately 30 minutes.
  2. What are the opportunities for excursions?
On Wednesday, participants are free to explore. The village of Pau offers several historical and cultural attractions. If several in the group wish to have a tour at the jacquard factory, Tissage Moutet, Clos Mirabel will be happy to inquire if this is possible and arrange for transportation (participants are responsible for the cost of transportation).
  3. Do I need to exchange my currency for Euros?
Cash is not needed at Clos Mirabel, but you may wish to have some on hand. The single Euro coin is particularly helpful for accessing train station bathrooms.
  4. What is the weather like in March?
Average temperatures range between 40-60 degrees farenheit. We'll spend much of our time indoors, and you'll enioy time hand quilting by the fire if you choose!
  5. Will I get more information?
Once you are registered, you'll be added to the retreat email list and get periodic updates.
